JCA has successfully completed the delivery of Ark Data Centres’ new state-of-the-art facility at Longcross Park, a landmark project that sets a new benchmark for sustainable, AI-ready infrastructure in the UK. The project encompassed the full design and build of mechanical and electrical (MEP) services, progressing from RIBA Stage 3 through to installation, commissioning, and handover.

LP1, the first of three planned data centres at Longcross Park, provides 19 MW of IT capacity, engineered to support the most demanding AI and hyperscale workloads. Located within the Enterprise M3 zone in Chertsey, the Longcross Park campus spans across 385,000 sq. ft, with three planned purpose-built data centres, delivering a total of 55 MW of compute capacity upon completion. The site is set to become a cornerstone of the UK’s digital infrastructure, supporting high-density workloads and advanced AI applications.

The completion of LP1 marks UK’s first deployment of high-voltage UPS systems in a data centre environment — enhancing system resilience while reducing footprint and improving energy efficiency. This innovation sets a new benchmark for large-scale MEP infrastructure and supports Ark’s commitment to zero-carbon operations.

Longcross Park features Ark’s latest generation of 100% direct air cooled hyperscale data halls, delivered in partnership with BladeRoom Data Centres, to achieve exceptional energy efficiency and TIA942 Level 3 compliance. The design maximises offsite prefabrication and includes low emission HVO fuelled generators, cutting embodied carbon and improving energy performance. Targeting BREEAM Excellent, the campus is engineered for zero-carbon operations with modular steel architecture, rainwater harvesting, zero mechanical cooling for data halls, living walls, EV charging, and low NOx gas generators. Fully hydrogen-ready and aiming for a PUE below 1.3, it reflects Ark’s long-term sustainability commitment.

Seamus Quinn, Head of Construction (South West) at Ark Data Centres, commented: “Our project at Longcross Park saw Phase 1 works come to a successful completion in September 2025. During this project we as the client enjoyed an excellent working relationship with JCA where their positive attitude and determination was a major factor in achieving this milestone. Their team has strength in depth with a willingness to go above and beyond and we look forward to working with them again on Phase 2.”

Tim Edwins, Project Director at JCA, said: “Longcross Park is a flagship development for Ark, and LP1’s successful delivery is a testament to the strength of our partnership. Delivering a project of this scale and complexity required close coordination and a shared commitment to excellence. Working alongside Ark, we’ve delivered a resilient, efficient solution that sets the tone for the next phase of development.”

Ian Jackson, Managing Director at JCA, added: “Ark’s commitment to sustainability creates an aspiration for JCA to deliver. It’s the perfect partnership for us to showcase our ability, and we’re fortunate to have customers that share our values and appreciate the advantage collaborative partnerships can bring on a long-term basis.”

Phase Two of the Longcross Park development is now underway, with JCA continuing its role in delivering the next stage of this pioneering campus.
